What's Happening
SolAustralia runs a variety of styles of events and workshops through the year. Based on demand, we have members' forums and member reviews, where individuals in our community take the opportunity to discuss their challenges and issues around a book they are writing, an initiative at work, or a project on which they are working.
Have you got an event or workshop that you would like solAustralia to sponsor or advertise? Contact us using the events registration form. SolAustralia uses a panel review process, where events that are posted upon our website, meet the requirements of whether they help achieve the solAustralia vision and values, and provide provocative thinking for our community.

Description:
Come along and help us celebrate the first NSW KM Forum session for 2012 with two great speakers sharing their experiences in two very different organisations.
TOPICS
On an evening with a distinctly international flavour, we will travel from mentoring in the Legislative Assembly of the Parliament of NSW, to the Silicon Valley where we'll hear key learnings from a large organisation in transforming from Business Unit specific KM Solutions to an enterprise-wide KM solution with a common system, processes and governance.
Speaker 1: Pauline Painter is currently the Knowledge and Information Manager for the Legislative Assembly of the Parliament of NSW, with a colourful career in the UK prior to arriving in Australia in 2008. Pauline will share with us the Legislative Assembly Mentoring Program (LAMP) which is being launched next week. This a formal developmental mentoring program, designed to include staff at all levels within the Assembly. Set within a culture that takes great value in upholding the traditions of the House, the program looks to match mentors and mentees, depending on the outcome that they are seeking.
Speaker 2: Jody Weir is an even more recent arrival to our shores, coming to us from the U.S. She is a senior program manager, with a passion for knowledge management, who thrives on leading large-scale business transformation initiatives, spending the last 12 years working in the Silicon Valley. In her latest role, Jody was responsible for delivering technology solutions to meet Intuit’s enterprise-wide knowledge management (KM) needs, including creating the KM technology roadmap and program management for technology implementations. It is from this experience that Jody will share her learnings from the trenches - trenches where the first 6 business units went live with the new system and processes within 6 months, including 5,000 support agents and 25 million customers. Results included improvements in search effectiveness up 70%, resolution rates up 90%, self help usage up 120% and reduction in the use of assisted help channels after using self help by 25%.
Both Pauline and Jody will be happy to answer questions from the floor about their experiences, and we all look forward to an interesting, stimulating, enjoyable and sociable evening of learning not only from the experiences of our first guest speakers of the year, but also from the additional discussions that they will surely prompt amongst all of us gathered to listen.

Call For Workshops
20110919 CALL for workshops SoL European Forum 2012_final.pdf
- How can we contribute to the systemic change going on in organizations, business and society at large (economy, ecology, politics …?
- Is there a need for a new generation of leadership?
- How can we, as a SoL community, engage our collective intelligence to address today's challenging issues?
SoL Sweden, on behalf of The Society for Organizational Learning and the collective European SoL communities, is delighted to invite you to participate in this SoL European Forum in the beautiful surroundings of Stockholm in order to explore the shift taking place in Europe right now and its challenge for our corporations and societies. The SoL European Forum welcomes participation from the whole Global SoL Society.
Program
We are delighted that SoL Founder Peter Senge and Barrett Brown, specialists in leadership for sustainability, already have agreed to be with us to contribute at this inspiring Forum. Other interesting speakers will soon be announced.
You will experience three days where you meet with other inspiring people and learn about ideas, theories and experiences related to "Co-creating a new reality - transforming values and organizations!". We will meet for plenary sessions, workshops, learning circles, breaks and activities that will stimulate your learning and exploration. All through there will be dialogue where you can challenge your thoughts with others and engage in collective learning.
Every morning and throughout the three days we will invite you to shorter moments of mindful movements, music, meditations and other activities that will stimulate body, feelings and mind. We will also spend time in nature, being in a beautiful park.
The first day will inspire and plant a seed with keynote speakers, and a "smorgasbord" of different workshops. The evening will be spent in different locations downtown Stockholm.
The second day will open up for tools for transformation in learning circles with experienced storytellers from different companies. There will be more workshops, an Open Space addressing next generation values and visions and also an inspiring and interesting leader speaking.
The third day is about integration of learnings, harvesting and reflecting in groups, bringing it to a personal level. A keynote will start our day and we will also use nature as a teacher.
A new generation Leadership
In the business environment multinational companies have grown into becoming one of the strongest global forces while being more and more challenged by a rapidly shifting economy as well as social and climate changes. Simultaneously a broad wave of social entrepreneurship and innovation is emerging. The new generation of companies are contributing to real change in harmony with the needs of people and society. New business models are rapidly emerging, built on transparency, values and collaboration in cooperation with consumers and competitors. A combined economical, ecological and social shift changes the reality for leadership both in organizations and society at large.
The core essence of the new generation of leadership calls for people’s participation. It comes down to you and me and what we can create together. It’s not a question of age, it’s about our ability and courage to take a new leadership in our personal and professional lives. It raises questions such as: How do we want to lead and be led? How do we want to organize and be organized? How can we inspire and be inspired? And how can we bring the new leadership to emerge?
We strongly believe that you are part of the new generation of leadership and welcome you to explore and co-create the new reality at The SoL European Forum 2012 from a perspective of Organizational Learning and Systemic change!
